I'm the mom of a 5th grader trying to help him with Math corrections. I know how to do the "math" but the model has me STUMPED! It goes as follows:

Lanny bought 1.4 pounds of rice that cost $0.40 per pound. how much does Lanny pay for the rice? Shade the decimal models to solve the problem. (he's given 2 tables (decimal models) to show the 1.4 and the $0.40 and a third table to show the answer)
